Onnelanpolku - Lahti, Finland
Completed in June 2014, the Onnelanpolku residential centre has 130 aparments intended for assisted housing. Of these, nearly 100 apartments are used for intensive care, maintained by the City of Lahti.
Onnelanpolku was designed to provide elderly residents with a safe, comfortable, and accessible living environment. The core mission is to accommodate at all stages of elderly care; as residents become less self-sufficient, they can simply move from a rental aparment to an assisted living unit within the same building. The accessibility of all bathrooms at Onnelanpolku is ensured by Korpinen. The general spaces as well as toilet and sauna facilities in the residential centre are furnished to ensure the ease and safety of moving around.
